Abstract
We present a series of cases which presented with features of anterior uveitis, vitritis and multiple subretinal infiltrates in one eye and after thorough ocular investigations (including vitreous biopsy and retinal tissue biopsy in one case) and systemic work up, were diagnosed with unilateral primary vitreoretinal lymphoma (PVRL) without CNS involvement. These patients were managed with intravitreal injections of methotrexate and showed a good response, achieving remission till final follow up. Along with literature review, we report and discuss our experience with the regimen of intravitreal methotrexate injections in these patients, including its efficacy and adverse events (including corneal epetheliopathy and its successful management). In cases of unilateral PVRL without CNS involvement, intravitreal methrotrexate remains a cost effective alternative to the more expensive rituximab, although it requires a more intense injection regimen and has higher incidence of ocular toxicity
