Abstract
Conjunctival nevus is the most commonly seen benign, noncancerous growth that occurs on the ocular surface. It is either congenital or develops later.Conjunctival nevi appear as a visible freckle on the sclera with no other accompanying symptoms. They tend to remain stable, but can change size and color over time specially during puberty or pregnancy. We report a case of 7 year old male with congenital conjunctival nevus with progressive increase in size over six months. On slit lamp examination, a small conjunctival lesion was detected on the superotemporal part of the bulbar conjunctiva of the left eye. Wide excision with cryotherapy to scleral bed was done and amniotic membrane graft was used to restore the ocular surface. Histopathological examination revealed necrosis, vascular proliferation and inflammatory cells. On subsequent OPD follow-up, amniotic membrane was noted in place and healing of lesion was accessed.
