Abstract

AIM:To study the effects and ill effects of preterms treated with inadequate laser and ANTIVEGF combination or antivegf alone with inadequate follow up or deferred treatment in presence of progression signs

METHODS 6 pretermswere chosen, who developed ROP crunch 6-8 wks following treatment,and were followedup after intervention (laser/ surgery)

RESULTS : 11 eyes of 6 preterms developed rop crunch,of which3 had nasal tractional detachment( trd’s) and the other 3 had360 degrees involvement. Of these,3 eyes of 2 patients improved with argon laser treatment in the nasal trd group,with presence of persistent traction on the nasal side, which was walled off.The other 4 needed vitrectomy with membrane segmentation /delamination with/without ANTI –VEGF .of these2 eyes were salvaged with partial reattachment

CONCLUSION:

Meticulous decision making in the early treatment of APROP and aggressive complete treatment go a long way in prevention of blindness from this devastating condition
