Abstract
Our study aims at evaluating the performance of newer generation IOL power calculation formulae i.e., Barrett Universal II, EVO, Hill-RBF, Kane, T2 formulae in Asian Indian population. All patients found eligible will undergo preoperative biometric measurements using IOLMaster 500. Phacoemulsification surgery will be performed through a 2.8 mm clear corneal incision with in the bag implantation of foldable intraocular lens. Barrett Universal II formula, will be utilized for calculating the desired IOL power. In the one-month follow-up visit, a single refractionist will perform post-operative refraction using automated refractometer and convert into its spherical equivalent (SE). Biometric measurements will be entered into the formulae BU II, EVO, Hill-RBF, Kane and T2 available online. Predicted postoperative SE corresponding to the lowest myopic spherical equivalent for each patient will be calculated using optimized or recommended lens constants for the formulae.
