Abstract
Chondrosarcoma is a malignant tumour commonly in the pelvis and extremities.1 – 12% of all cases of chondrosarcoma are encountered in the head and neck region making it a rare illness.A 36 year old male presented with two months history of sudden onset diminution of vision and forward protrusion of left eye associated with left facial and hemicranial pain. On examination, a prominent bulge noted on left temporal forehead area, which on palpation was a firm mass 4.5*3.5cm, non-tender, normal temperature, overlying skin free, attached to underlying structures.MRI of the Brain was done and a diagnosis of chondrosarcoma was made. This paper attempts to describe a rare entity that should be considered in the differential diagnosis of calcified orbital lesions, especially in young adults. Complete removal of the tumor is the mainstay of treatment, but adjuvant chemotherapy should be considered. However, the prognosis in such cases is poor due to risk of recurrence and metastasis.
