Abstract
PURPOSE- To report a case of lower lid Sebaceous gland carcinoma radiologically mimicking a Haemangioma
METHODS-A 60 year old female presented with a Right lower lid swelling which was gradually increasing in size since 2 years. A detailed history was taken and ocular examination done. Radiological imaging done. Mass excised and sent for histo-pathological examination.
RESULTS-On examination there was a firm and non-tender mass arising from the Right lower lid. CECT showed features suggestive of Orbital Haemangioma. MRI showed a T1 hypo-intense and T2 heterogenous intensity lesion with features suggestive of Benign soft tissue vascular formation. The histo-pathology report showed an impression of a well-differentiated Sebaceous gland carcinoma.
CONCLUSION-Sebaceous gland carcinoma being a good mimicker is frequently misdiagnosed radiologically therefore early excision biopsy and Histopathological confirmation of diagnosis is important for timely management and better prognosis.
