Abstract

To report a case of post traumatic iris cyst in a young boy, 7 yr old which was managed successfully by surgical excision

Patient presented with gradually progressive painless decrease in vision since1week after stick injury. On examination he had clear cornea , anterior chamber(AC) showed a large iris cyst which was occupying more than half of AC obstructing the pupillary area. Pupil was reacting to light. Iop was normal. Post dilatation lens was found clear and fundus was normal. A/S OCT showed cyst touching the endothelium. The patient underwent surgical cyst excision

Clear corneal incision was made. AC was filled with visco. It was noted that cyst wall was not attached to corneal endothelium. Cyst was aspirated then excised in toto. The underlying iris was hypochromic . The incision was closed with one suture of 10-0 nylon. At 2month postop BCVA was 6/6

Post traumatic iris cysts can cause significant ocular morbidity, which can be prevented by early surgical intervention
