Abstract

A 9-year-old female child was brought by her parents with complaints of painless progressive loss of vision. Her BCVA was 20/40 (-2.75DS) in the right eye and 20/80 (-6DS) in the left eye. Clinical examination revealed a quiet anterior chamber, and posterior segment examination showed a peripapillary tire-shaped subretinal fibrosis with an active margin towards the macula and mid-peripheral subretinal fibrotic lesions. Over the course of the next 6 months, there was a gradual pseudopodial elongation of the lesion towards the macula with a decrease in vision. After extensive evaluation to rule out infectious causes, a diagnosis of progressive subretinal fibrosis and uveitis in the young was made. At her last follow-up at 18 months of presentation, her vision was stabilized at 20/60 (BE). The case demonstrates a rare entity of progressive subretinal fibrosis with its natural course of disease progression and remission.
