Abstract

AIM: This study was done to see the role of mitomycin-c in maintaining the patency in Dacryocystorhinoscopy( DCR) in the treatment of chronic dacryocystitis.MATERIAL AND METHODs:It’s a hospital based prospective study, in which 42 cases of chronic dacryocystitis taken during the period of July to december 2021.Cases were taken in which ROPLAS was positive and confirmed by syringing .Follow up done for six months. Results: Out of 42 cases which was divided into two groups, A and B .Group A where mitomycin-c was used before cutting the nasal mucosa and sac for making the tunnel and Group B where mitomycin-c was not used. The patients were followed for the duration of six months.Conclusion: Patency in DCR with mitomycin-c was better in comparison to DCR without mitomycin-c.
