Abstract
Aim
To assess the visual outcomes and patient satisfaction after bilateral implantation of a novel extended depth of focus , Trifocal intraocular lens (IOL).
Results
At 3 months after surgery, mean UDVA, UIVA and UNVA were 0.03±0.06, 0.03±0.08 and 0.03±0.08 respectively. 21 eyes (87.5%) achieved UDVA of logMAR 0.00 and 22 eyes (91.6%) achieved an UIVA and UNVA of logMAR 0.00. 21 eyes (87.5%) had a spherical equivalent of ≤ ±0.50D and all 24 eyes (100%) had a SE of ≤ ±0.75 D. CS was 2.24±0.04 cs. Defocus curve had a broad plateau between +2.00 and -3.00 D. Ten (83.3%) patients did not perceive any glare or halo. Eleven (91.6%) patients were able to have spectacle independent vision and said they would recommend the lens to others.
Conclusion
Objective and subjective outcomes with the MWR IOL appear to be good in this pilot study of Indian eyes.
