Abstract
Aim: This study is aimed to determine the efficacy of probing and syringing in adults with epiphora due to nasolacrimal duct obstruction .Materials and Methods: A prospective, comparative, interventional study was conducted on 263 patients with epiphora from July 2011 to July 2021 who had epiphora for 3–24 months. 263 patients were divided in to two groups. Group A (130 Patients)- Probing and syringing with 1ml of Moxyfloxacin 0.5% and Group B (133 patients) with 1 ml of Mitomycin c 0.04% done through upper and lower canaliculus. Results: At the end of mean follow up period, In Group A 29 Patients (22.03%) and 30 Patients (22.556%) from group B were completely relieved from symptoms and patent on syringing. Conclusion: In our study no significant difference in efficacy of syringing material. Since probing is a simple, quick, cost‑effective, and day care procedure with low morbidity, probing can be recommended as an initial treatment in adults with NLDO.
