Abstract
The postoperative visual outcome at 1 month was analysed in 411 phaco and 227 FLACS patients operated by a single surgeon during a period of one year. 372 patients (90.5%) in phaco group and 203 (95.3%) in FLACS group achieved CDVA of 6/9 or more. there was no significant difference in mean age, gender ratio and mean preop CDVA in two groups. Mean postop UDVA was better in FLACS group(p=.04). 332 patients in phaco gp and 184 patients in FLACS gp had non-toric IOLs implanted. In this non-toric subgroup, mean postop UDVA was significantly better in FLACS patients (p=.039). Mean postop cylinder was 0.57 +/- 0.51 in phaco (non-toric) gp and 0.42 +/- 0.4 in FLACS (non=toric) gp with a p value of .00009 indicating better visual outcome with femtolaser assisted cataract surgery.
