Abstract
Aim:To study the variation of VA & OCT biomarkers with CT in DME
Methods:Retrospective study of 100 eyes, 83 patients with ciDME divided into 2 groups with CT <300 µm- Group 1, 54 eyes and ≥ 300 µm - Group 2,46 eyes. CT measured with EDI & OCT biomarkers evaluated. Results:Mean age was 65.80 ± 8.10 & 62.37 ± 7.42 years in group 1 and 2 respectively with predominant males. Presenting VA <20/120 was noted in 24.07% & 34.78% eyes in group 1 &2 respectively (P=0.24). CME was most common in group 1 and 2 with more significant (p= 0.01) SRF in group 2. There was no significant difference in OCT biomarkers in groups 1 and 2 (P > 0.05). Mean follow up was 13.76 ± 4.59months. CT was significantly decreased in group 2 (89.1 %) than group 1 (66.6 %) on final visit (p = 0.007). VA gain was seen in 20.37 & 23.91% eyes in group 1 & 2 respectively (P =0.86).
Conclusion:CT did not affect the OCT biomarkers & VA. SRF was seen more often in patients with thicker choroid.
