Abstract

A 72 year old male presented with diminution of vision in both eyes for last 4 years with whitish discolouration in both eyes since 30 years. On examination, patient’s BCVA was 6/36 in both eyes. Anterior segment examination of both eyes revealed scales on eyelid, blepharitis, ectropion in lower lid and Band shaped keratopathy in inferior cornea with corneal thinning and overlying spheroidal degeneration along with immature cataract.

On systemic examination, patient had dry, pigmented, scaly and thickened skin on the face, arms, legs and trunk, suggestive of clinical diagnosis of Ichthyosis.

On further enquiry, patient revealed that his brother had the same skin features and ocular complaints, but not his 3 children, which indicates towards X- linked Ichthyosis.

Our case presented with all common manifestations of Ichthyosis along with Band Shaped Keratopathy which is rare. As per our knowledge, band shaped keratopathy is a rare manifestation of ichthyosis, reported in only 2 articles.
