Abstract
Aim: To find correlation of ocular features with serum levels of VEGF-D and other inflammatory factors in COVID. Methods: In a observational study on 80 subjects having mean age of 47.66±16.31 (22-84) years, ocular features and serum levels of VEGF-D and other inflammatory factors were studied. Results: VEGF-D did not have correlation with any ocular feature; C-reactive protein (CRP) had significant correlation with magnitude of near visual acuity (p=0.041) and contrast sensitivity (p=0.021); lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) had significant correlation with number of Ishihara plates (22-25 category) read (p=0.027) and central foveal thickness (CFT) (p=0.045); D-Dimer had significant correlation with distance BCVA (P=0.009) and Farnsworth test (p=0.028); and Ferritin had significant correlation with distance refractive error (P=0.010). Conclusions: Serum Inflammatory factors are raised in COVID and affect BCVA, near vision, contrast sensitivity, colour vision and CFT.
