This retrospective study included a cohort of 43 children (72 eyes) who underwent

cataract surgery and subsequent strabismus surgery. The main objective was to look at

outcomes of strabismus surgery and analyse risk factors for poor outcome in this patient

cohort. Data was collected from retrospective review of our hospital medical records. Mean

age at cataract surgery was 44.79 ± 44.61 months, mean interval between cataract surgery

and strabismus surgery was 67.37 ± 55.93 months and the mean follow up after strabismus

surgery was 38.39 ± 32.48 months in our cohort. Strabismus was present prior to cataract

surgery in 68.4 % and exotropia(72.1%,31) was more frequent than esotropia(27.9%,12).

67.44% (29/43) had good outcomes after strabismus surgery with deviation within 10 prisms.

Age at cataract surgery, laterality, preoperative deviations, presence of nystagmus, final

stereopsis, visual status and lens status did not affect strabismus surgery outcomes(p>0.05).
