Abstract

Study : case report of 5 Herpes zoster Ophthalmicus patients

Introduction

First 56 lady pain swelling right eye upper lid increased in size ,difficulty in opening eye,severe pain, low grade fever. lid edema, fluid filled blisters, conjunctival chemosis, punctate epithelial keratitis.

Second 75 vesicular lesions on right side of forehead upper eye lid, chemosis, epithelial keratitis , anterior uveitis

Material and methods

An observational study done over a period of 4 weeks in 5 patients

Results: Patients managed with systemic antivirals, systemic corticosteroids, antipyretics, analgesics topical antivirals, lubricants.Patients followed closely over a period of 4 weeks

Three patient got full recovery with no scar.

Two patient got scars.

Conclusion :

Herpes zoster ophthalmicus patients to be managed well.

Need to be followed up closely.

A thorough knowledge of disease helps in early recovery and prevention of complications.
