Abstract
Synopsis: Ocular coloboma results due to the maldevelopment of embryo, and eyes with congenital coloboma are at highest risk for surgical complications during cataract surgery. Cataract surgery in patients with chorioretinal coloboma is challenging with suboptimal results. Surgery performed at an earlier age results in better outcomes. Phacoemulsification significantly improves the outcomes compared with other techniques. Manual small-incision cataract surgery is an alternative to phacoemulsification in colobomatous eyes with advanced cataract. Here we present the outcomes of cataract surgery in colobomatous eyes with early and advanced cataracts.
