Abstract

Visual evoked potential (VEP) can provide important diagnostic information regarding the functional integrity of the visual system. A total of 7 cases were recorded. Initial preliminary clinical evaluation including history, visual acuity measurement, pupillary reaction, colour vision and central fields were. Also MRI brain with contrast was done. Pattern VEP according to ISCEV guide lines was done. The latency and amplitude of the P 100 waveform was recorded . The study showed a delayed latency and reduced amplitude in the affected eye as compared to that of unaffected eye . VEP can serve as an essential tool for the diagnosis of subclinical optic neuritis, optic nerve demyelination and monitoring the improvement with .treatment.
