Abstract

Purpose: To report a case of autosomal recessive cornea plana associated with hard mature and polar cataract

Methodology : A 39-year lady with history of defective vision OU since childhood, BCVA 6/36 in OD, HM in OS. OU microcornea, cornea plana, wide limbal zone, early-onset arcus ,clear lens in OD and mature cataract with anterior polar component in OS.IOP OD 14 mmHg and OS 16 mmHg. AS-OCT and UBM revealed shallow anterior chambers,short axial lengths,keratometry readings K1/K2-30.43D/ 35.42D OD, 27.10D/29.43D OS.She underwent SICS with +40D PMMA lens OS

Conclusion: We presumed our diagnosis as cornea plana CNA2 based on the typical clinical findings.Cataract surgery in these patients is challenging due to limited space in the anterior chamber. Imaging modalities like AS-OCT and UBM are imperative to study the angle parameters, type of cataract and decide treatment protocol. Failure to diagnose and correctly manage these patients at an early age can result in ametropic amblyopia
