Abstract
Untreated or undertreated unilateral amblyopia has been shown to result in reduced visual outcome. Traditional amblyopia therapy such as patching and atropine penalisation works by the principle of suppressing the dominant eye. Recent advancements in VR therapy games are aimed at stimulating the amblyopic eye avoiding interocular suppression. It involves the utilisation of binocular vision and thus has a promising potential for vision therapy in binocular vision dysfunction. Plasticity of the visual system enables both children and adults to respond to stimulating vision therapy. Compliance and acceptance are likely to be better for VR gaming especially among children. In our cases comprising of two patients, one adult and one child with anisometric amblyopia, addition of VR based game for amblyopia as a office-based therapy along with gold standard treatment of regular patching showed significant improvement in visual function particularly visual acuity and stereopsis.
