Abstract

PURPOSE:To study fundal changes in HIV/AIDS patients and it’s correlation with degree of immunodeficiency as measured by CD4+T cell count.

METHOD:This was prospective study.27 patients who were positive for HIV infection with or without AIDS being referred to ART centre in North Bihar and is on treatment or without treatment and had determined CD4+T cells count belonging to any stage were included.It was conducted between April 2021 to May 2022.

RESULTS: Mean age found to be 35.6years+/-11.6 SD.The most common ocular manifestation of HIV patients in our series was HIV retinopathy 12% and CMV retinitis 4% and higher prevalence of manifestation in stage 3&4 and in CD4+T cell count<100cells/ml. CONCLUSION:The study reveals posterior segment manifestation are commonest and ocular manifestation correlates significantly with disease progression more in stage 3&4.Low CD4+T cell count is risk predictor as have high fundal changes.
