Abstract

Background-Refractive correction and amblyopia management at proper age improves VA in many cases.

Materials & method- Children aged 3-15 years who attended our OPD underwent examination & 100 patients diagnosed amblyopic and fitting the inclusion criteria were included and patients were followed up at 15 days, 1 month and 3 months.

Results: No significant difference in distribution of VA (Right & Left eye) & VA score in different age groups at baseline,15 days,1 month & 3 months follow-up between partial & full-time occlusion groups.

Conclusion: Age was not found to significantly affect the treatment outcome. Occlusion therapy remains more affordable and more feasible option for most countries. PTO and FTO have the same effect on treatment of amblyopia. Amblyopia occlusion therapy should be initiated at the youngest age possible, and good compliance should be emphasized, especially during the first month of treatment, to ensure good short-term and long term treatment outcomes.
