Abstract
Objective To study the safety and efficacy of Suprachoroidal Triamcinolone in Retinal Vein Occlusion
Methods
Retrospective chart review of 20 patients of RVO with CME meeting the study criteria. Patients with additional macular pathology like DME were excluded. SCTA (4 mg/0.01 ml) was administered with an innovated 26 G needle with intracath sleeve in OT. Change in BCVA, IOP, macular thickness and complications, if any at 6 months were primary outcome measures.
Statistical test paired t test
Results
The baseline visual acuity was logMAR 0.75 which improved to log MAR 0.36 at 6 month (p<0.00) The baseline CME reduced from 454.6 micron to 285.9 micron at 6 months (p<0.00). No significant complications like raised IOP, RD or perforation were noted. Conclusion This modified method of SCTA injection is cost effective and safe for treatment of CME due to RVO. This technique is useful alternative to costly steroid implants in countries where cost of healthcare is an important concern.
