Abstract

Purpose: to describe a novel technique to improve patient’s fixation during lenticule extraction.

Background:A number of intraoperative complications can occur during SMILE surgery. Few of them occur due to the anxiety of the patient.

Technique: We describe a simple procedure to improve patients’ fixation during lenticule removal by displacing the central cavitation bubbles using smooth and curved bent of lamellar dissector (Duckworth and Kent).

Outcome: We found this technique to be effective in 100% of cases.
