DR. GOPAL S. PILLAI

Indian Ophthalmology clinical trial network (IOCTN) is a first of its kind network of Indian ophthalmological clinical research centers dedicated to performing multicentric clinical research with the highest standards of quality, following the Indian and International regulations for clinical research and ICH-GCP guidelines. Aim of IOCTN is to strengthen the capacity of India to perform multicentric clinical research studies, to develop and optimize the use of diagnostic and treatment strategies in ophthalmology and as a useful industry resource in order to contribute to the development of “Make in India” new drugs, medical devices, and biomarkers.

Funded by the BIRAC, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, the network has government as well as private institutions. This unique IC looks at the challenges in the development and ideas for expansion of the network. This is the most critical step, government took for bolstering the upcoming market of clinical research in India.
