Abstract

Background: Ocular chemical burns are common and serious ocular emergencies that require an immediate and intensive evaluation and care. The degree of limbal, corneal, and conjunctival involvement at the time of injury is critically associated with prognosis. Amniotic membrane due to its properties of migration of epithelial cells, the reinforcement of basal cellular adhesion and epithelial differentiation and its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial activity has led to its use in the treatment of chemical burns.

Method: we are presenting video series of four patients with chemical burns where there is symblepharon release, and Amniotic membrane transplantation has been done novel modifications are presented..

Conclusion: Amniotic membrane if done within an appropriate time period has proved its efficacy in providing good visual outcomes in cases of chemical burns.
