Abstract
Purpose: To determine the correlation of FST and TCGA classification for uveal melanoma-related metastasis and death.
Methods: Retrospective study of patients with uveal melanoma (UM) treated between 2006-2020
Results: Of 854 patients with UM, skin tone classification included FST I (97), FST II (665), FST III-V (92) and FST VI (0). A comparison (FST I vs II vs III-V) revealed differences per TCGA in age (group A 61.2 vs 57.2 vs 50.2 years p=0.003), melanocytosis (group C 5% vs 6% vs 23% p=0.028) and heterochromia (group C 0% vs 5% vs 18% p=0.039). FST I had higher odds of being group D (OR 2.34 p=0.002), FST III-V had higher odds of being group B (OR 2.26 p=0.002). KM analysis showed no difference in UM-related metastasis or death in TCGA groups at 5, 10, and 15 years.
Conclusion: Despite differences in tumor features and genetic profile in patients with various FST, survival analysis revealed no difference in UM-related metastasis or death within each TCGA group per skin tone.
