Abstract

Retrospective interventional case series of 9 children diagnosed with RB from October 2017-March 21. 9 eyes were included, median age of presentation was 2.3 yrs. , ranging from 1-5 yrs., Male: Female- 3.5: 1. All cases were sporadic. At presentation (as per ICRB classification), 4 ( 44%) cases were of Group D , 5 ( 55%) were of group E. For diffuse vitreous seeds management patients received Intra vitreal chemotherapy ( Topotacan , 20micro gram/0.12ml) with safety enhanced technique. Median no. of intra vitreal injection was 2, (range: 2 to 5). At a mean follow up period of 12 months, 8 patients showed good regression with globe salvation, however 1 patient underwent enucleation due to recurrence of solid tumor, unrelated to vitreous seeds. No evidence of recurrence found at follow up.

Conclusion: Intra vitreal chemotherapy administered with safety enhancement technique can provide excellent results and globe salvation in patients presenting with advanced stages of RB.
