Abstract
VO is an acute phenomenon which is driven by increased angiogenic factors like VEGF& to certain extent inflammatory factors. The studywas conducted to compare the edema resolution kinetics in RBZ(ranibizumab) VS BRZ (brolucizumab) VS RBZ&steroids. Methods: 3 groups with 27 eyes with RVO were offered treatment with RBZ, BRZ& RBZ+steroid after explaining the risk&benefits. Pre&post injection(inj) 1month CMT noted. CMT >300u on 1month followup were offered repeat inj. Results: RBZ group- meanCMT preinj-560u, postinj 1month348u,>50percent-reinjection at 1month. BRZ group- meanCMT preinj529u,postinj 1month270u, none of the eyes required repeat injection. RBZ+steroid-meanCMT preinj690u, postinj 1month320u, <10 percent of eyes-repeat inj at 1month. Conclusion: Brolucizumab is a stronger VEGF suppressor hence in predominantly VEGF driven diseases offers earlier resolution of edema& earlier visual rehabilitation. Combined treatment offers earlier resolution when compared to RBZ monotherapy.
