Abstract

12-year-old boy presented with history of sudden onset downward protrusion of left eyeball sine 2 days following collision with a wall. Protrusion was associated with left sided headache. Visual acuity in both eyes was 6/6. Ocular examination revealed left axial proptosis with restricted extraocular movements in all gazes. Pupillary reaction and fundus of both eyes were normal. Intraocular pressure in the right eye was 18mmHg while in the left eye was 24mmHg. NCCT orbits revealed well defined heterogenous soft tissue density in the superior extraconal aspect of left orbit, inferiorly abutting the superior rectus muscle and displacing the globe inferiorly and anteriorly. Under aseptic precautions and USG guidance 7ml of blood was aspirated from the superior aspect of left orbit with complete resolution of proptosis and full extraocular movements on the next day. Follow-up NCCT showed small iso dense collection in the left orbit causing no significant compression to the globe.
